Star of Caledonia will create a new cultural landmark, welcoming visitors to Scotland.

A large, modern, white sculpture resembling a DNA helix with numerous black-tipped rods extending from its structure, situated on a grassy hill in a park. Several visitors are walking and sitting around the sculpture, with a pond and trees in the background under a partly cloudy sky.

Located near Gretna Green, the Star will sit in a beautifully biodiverse and fully accessible landscape.

A park scene with a lake, green grass, trees, and a walking path. People are relaxing and walking, with some bird watching and flying birds in the sky. In the background, a modern, loops-shaped structure is visible against a partly cloudy sky.

Planning Permission Approved

Planning permission for the Star of Caledonia has been approved in August 2025.

Sponsor a Star!

We have launched our major fundraiser. Sponsor a Star is a once in a lifetime opportunity to have one of the iconic ‘stars’ named after you, your family or your company. Or what about naming a star in someone’s memory?

With only 99 stars available, we are hoping to raise £1m, which will be the final bit of the funding we need.

Be Part Of The Journey

Follow our progress, share the story, and help spread the word about the Star of Caledonia. Together, we can make this landmark a symbol that shines for Scotland and beyond.

The project is planned for completion in 2027. The Star will become one of Scotland’s most recognisable landmarks, drawing in hundreds of thousands of visitors.

The Star will be constructed and run by the Star of Caledonia CIC (community interest company). All revenue raised at the Star will be put back in to the project and will used to support the arts and education in the local community.
