Forming a major new cultural beacon, the Star will be a metaphor for the dynamism of the Scottish nation symbolising the energy and power of Scottish invention.
The Star and Visitor centre will form a major new visitor attraction for dumfries and galloway and the Borderlands. It will encourage visitors to stop and explore the region’s cultural destinations and attractions.
STAR OF CALEDONIA trust and its partners plan to begin building The Star of Caledonia in 2025.
When it is complete it will be:
a celebration of Scotland, its people and their contribution to our world
a testament to renewables and sustainability
a visitor attraction encouraging travellers to explore southern Scotland
a Cultural catalyst for economic regeneration

The Star and landform is inspired by the porosity and movement across the border, Scottish energy and innovation and the work of Dumfries and Galloway based mathematician and physicist James Clerk Maxwell & his theory of electromagnetism.
